Heat Wave!
May 15th, 2008 at 8:32 pm
Highs in the low-to-mid-90s here at home, making me realize how great it is to work near the water. Actually, it was crazy hot there, too, but a nice shady lunch spot on the water can always beat the heat.
My house likes to retain heat. So it’s 83 degrees outside right now, but it’s probably more like 85-88 inside. Naturally, that makes this the perfect day for me to start playing Wii Fit, right?
I should have bought a house with a pool when I had the chance.

Aww, poor Jeffy.
May 15th, 2008 at 10:13 pm
yeah, it was in the triple digits over here in redwood city. yuck.
May 15th, 2008 at 11:19 pm
I live in Arizona but I’m from California.
You don’t know what hot is, buddy.
May 15th, 2008 at 11:30 pm
Be a man! Just steal someone elses pool.
May 16th, 2008 at 12:10 am
I’m in the Bay Area too and it is HAWT!
May 16th, 2008 at 12:13 am
it is ridiculously hot here in the bay area. i cant fall asleep, because it is so hot right now.
May 16th, 2008 at 3:31 am
Raining and cold here in my bit of the UK - not sure if that’s better… Actually, lunch in the sun by the water sounds a whole lot better than lunch at my desk while it rains outside…
May 16th, 2008 at 3:32 am
my pad seems to store up heat in the same way, especially in the evenings. Never seems to do it in winter though…

I might be too european to comprehend the fahrenheit scale. 90? What does that even mean?
May 16th, 2008 at 7:39 am
Two words:
“Air Conditioning”
May 16th, 2008 at 8:35 am
The “Strange Brew” rules for fahrenheit conversion:
“Double it and add 30″
That works around room temperature, starts to degrade as you move away. As a guess, (90-30)/2 = 30C.
That’s what I’m at here in glorious BC, Canada. But the mountain breezes, lake, (and AC) help
May 16th, 2008 at 8:36 am
BTW. Jeff, where’d you get the kickass DP gamer picture?
May 16th, 2008 at 9:07 am
I live in Austin, TX. Triple digits are the norm high for summer and aren’t too rare in late spring.

90 deg F = 32 deg Celsius.
May 16th, 2008 at 10:56 am
Grab a shovel. Make a pool.
May 16th, 2008 at 11:33 am
Dang yo. It’s like in the 50s-60s here.
May 16th, 2008 at 11:59 am
have you guys considered the fact that some one could get two months of an actual gym membership for the price of Wii Fit? When does a “realistic” game begin to waste so much of our time that we might as well do the real thing?
May 16th, 2008 at 12:14 pm
Yeah but if you had a pool you would totally get your controllers wet.
May 16th, 2008 at 1:22 pm
Stop whining! Here in Cleveland its still in the 50s. It doesn’t get hot here until well into June.
May 16th, 2008 at 2:01 pm
Yea… Born and Raised in the Bay Area. Just moved 3 hours north… and DAMN… Im at 105 degrees right now and I cant stand it!!!
May 16th, 2008 at 3:14 pm
@DIGITAL_SIN
Yeah, I wish
May 16th, 2008 at 3:49 pm
I am not going lie Jeff; its like 77 out right now and dry.
Beautiful!
In wisconsin it has been around 65 or 70 everyday. I am never moving from the Minnesota/Wisconsin region. I mean a ton of people think that it doesn’t warm up till like July and then gets cold again at the end of august, but we actually start getting warm in early april and then dont really start dipping below 60 as our day time high till mid october.
May 16th, 2008 at 5:29 pm
It’s a shitty 60 degrees over here. I hate the cold and 80 degree weather would be welcome, because NH cold is a place where balls go to become raisins.
May 16th, 2008 at 6:56 pm

May 17th, 2008 at 7:47 am
I’m going to ask:
How humid does it get there, Jeff?
And I’m going to expect a response from the Gerst himself…
May 17th, 2008 at 11:26 am

May 17th, 2008 at 12:57 pm
Lower 100s in Concord the last few days.
Doesn’t it usually rain every once in a while in May?
Jesus.
May 17th, 2008 at 2:18 pm
Don’t you have air conditioning? Close the shades too!
May 18th, 2008 at 9:54 am
Just reading that made me feel hotter . . .
May 18th, 2008 at 4:29 pm
I live in Del Mar, California (not very far from La Jolla) and it was hot here today too.
May 18th, 2008 at 11:36 pm
Jeff do you know if Rich Gallup is okay? He doesn’t have to update his blog every weekday or anything but after doing it for so long and stopping for a week I am a bit worried.
May 19th, 2008 at 7:20 pm
Move to Canada. It’s still brisk up in Ontario. We’ll welcome you with open arms up here. It’s only fair. We all flock to California so it’s only right that you migrate NORTH for the summer ;).
May 20th, 2008 at 11:17 am
You don’t know what hot is Jeff. Come up to ND. It’s mind blistering.
off topic- GO RICK FLAIR.> WHOOOOOOOOO.
May 20th, 2008 at 7:24 pm
Man, it hit something like 103 up here in Santa Rosa. So ridiculous.
May 21st, 2008 at 6:10 am
The World is a Vampire
May 24th, 2008 at 6:46 am
Will there be videos of your Wii Fit experiences?
May 26th, 2008 at 12:59 pm
Hey Jeff! WHERE’S POINTS!?
May 26th, 2008 at 6:54 pm
Hey, sorry but I haven’t had time to research this on my own, so I thought I would go straight to the authority on this. I am a level headed thirty something people person surviving with a family in this crazy world but have to admit that I have always loved playing video games (the true reality…lol). Always have, always will. Anyway, I was wondering what game is available for the Xbox 360 that would compare to the old games of Gehngis Kahn and Civilization?
May 26th, 2008 at 7:08 pm
Jeff Giant Bomb is down…
May 26th, 2008 at 8:33 pm
What happened to the GIANTBOMB?! Did it get hacked?
May 27th, 2008 at 4:49 am
OH GOD, GIANT BOMB! WHERE ARE YOU?
May 27th, 2008 at 8:43 am
Hey, where can I download Beer, by Skillit? It’s playing on your Myspace. You son of a bitch.

I passed out when it was a 104 in Rohnert Park. It was so hot that I went on a two day search for a portable A/C unit (was sold out in most stores).
May 29th, 2008 at 8:52 am
I know you are super busy and all, but you’re about to hit 60k points… you pretty much have to do a points report when that happens. Maybe that’s your plan already, anyway, looking forward to it.
May 29th, 2008 at 9:00 am
oh and on the temperature thing, the hottest I’ve ever seen it get here was 40C(104F), but the highest we usually have to worry about is 35C(95F). I’m really only comfortable when the temperature outside is between 10C(50F) and 15C(59F). Basically I just buy a little 40$ disposable AC unit anytime it looks like we’re headed for higher than 35C(95F). It may only last about a week but so does the temperature. The key is to buy it before the heat actually hits, since the first day the heat is actually here the store gets sold out mighty fast. Thought about buying a few and storing them, but that would tempt me to use them at lower temperatures.
