We both agree that the movie Go is impossible to watch in this day and age. Don’t watch Go.

We also agree that Clerks ain’t all that anymore, either. I love Clerks, but dude!

Also, we’re split on the topic of an Anchorman sequel. He’s all “whatevs.” I’m all “they’ve been making Anchorman sequels for the past few years, haven’t they?”

I still need to unwrap and watch my copy of Clerks II at some point. It’s on HD-DVD, so it’ll surely have The Look And Sound Of Perfect on its side.

Also, Big Audio Dynamite. Pro or con?

randle making that dude puke is worth the unwraping alone…great movie…

I’m going to put it straight, Yes Will Ferell can only do obnoxious but he’s the best, post Zoolander his only less than stellar movie has been Bades Of Glory, the rest have been pure unaldulterated gold!

  3. Aaron T.No Gravatar Says:

I haven’t seen go. Why not watch it?? Naive, perhaps?

  4. ZachNo Gravatar Says:

You cannot be serious about Clerks. I just watched that for the ten millionth time this weekend, and actually felt compelled to spend an obscene amount of money on Kevin-Smith-branded crap afterward. I don’t even know what I’m going to do with a poster for a fake brand of cigarettes, but dammit I had to buy one!

Clerks 2 might be a terrible disappointment for you, depending on what you’re expecting out of it. Pretty much it’s just more Clerks, so I guess if that what you’re after it ain’t bad.

I was going to defend Go, but as I sat here and thought about it for a second, you’re right. I have warm fuzzy memories about that movie, but would I actually sit down and watch it again tonight or any other night? No. Not likely.

Clerks II was pretty good. I went in expecting another ‘Jersey Girl’ and was pleasantly surprised. I won’t spoil the ending for you, but it reminded me of you guys, or vice versa… whatever.

  6. JonathanLNo Gravatar Says:

I think Clerks is still a great movie if you look at it as an indie film set in the early ’90s. If you’re expecting to be entertained on a modern level, watch Clerks II, stupids. But yeah.

And yes, Ron Burgundy has also been a race car driver, an ice skater, and a semi-professional basketball player.

And “Rush” is an aweosme song something like 15 years ahead of its time. Put that in your g-l-a-m-o-r-o-u-s pipe and smoke it, Fergie. You can’t sample like BAD, or BADII.

Not to mention it broke off from The Clash, so it HAS to have some kind of redeeming value.

The best Kevin Smith thing you coul buy would be a poster that said, “Got Nails?”

  7. SpencerNo Gravatar Says:

I think Anchorman is perfect the way it is, and following Ron Burgandy into the world news area wouldn’t be as great as the local stuff. Then again, if there was a sequel, I would be fine with it.

  8. EoinNo Gravatar Says:

What a very random and quick posted blog post
I completely agree on the Anchorman point though

  9. davidNo Gravatar Says:

Clerks is totally still watchable. That movie is great, you’re just jaded from all the new fancy high def and watching of bad movies ironically.

    big audio dynamite
    the anacronym says it all
    they’re terrible, dude! fact!

  11. feeNo Gravatar Says:

    acronym, not anacronym
    i always get them confused
    what a thickie!

Big Audio Dynamite (and The Clash, I geuss) has always been a band that I find is much more enjoyable in the car. For some reason it’s not quite enough to keep me entertained unless I’ve got something to be paying attention to along with it.

Also, they would totally screw up an Anchorman sequel.

  13. ReggieNo Gravatar Says:

I vaguely remember hearing about the movie Go. Can’t even remember who is in it. The first Clerks was a laugh riot but I’ve yet to see Clerks II. Wonder if Kevin Smith has plans for a sequel or if he’s just gonna call it quits right there.

  14. OttoNo Gravatar Says:

Clerks is still completely watchable. Me love that movie long time.

Go on the other hand….. It was fun the first couple times, but it never got me to go back time and time again.

  15. MegaDaffyNo Gravatar Says:

Dude! “Go” is an awesome movie! I just watched it a few weeks ago and am now looking for a copy of it.

  16. JVNo Gravatar Says:

Please combine this with Giant Bomb. Also Clerks is still good and it could have been done on radio the whole movie is just dialogue the actors are nothing special. Clerks 2 is good open the damn thing up already. Completely agree that they have done Anchorman sequels already but they also released another one one dvd it was a pack in as a special edition it was ok and I dont think they can top the other original so leave it alone, Blades of glory though is under rated.

  17. ZmillANo Gravatar Says:

“The Look and Sound of Perfect” is such a ridiculous slogan.

And Im so tired of Will Ferell movies, seriously.

  18. SpaceNinjaDinoNo Gravatar Says:

My HD-DVD copy of Clerks II is still wrapped as well. I hope I get a chance to watch it before the year’s end.

  19. Banana KidNo Gravatar Says:

I really like Clerks II. It’s a lot like what you might expect–it’s Clerks, but it feels a lot more like a real movie. Clerks has a big knock in that it was insanely cheap ten years ago, so now it’s just kind of sad.

For the resources it was given, it was a real achievement, and it did allow Kevin Smith to have a career. But as a movie? Clerks II is a big improvement.

  20. ImpossibiliumNo Gravatar Says:

Nope, I’m all Go. Still a good flick and William Fichtner is just the right side of creepy/funny in that movie to make his scenes perfect.

  21. WildTurkeyNo Gravatar Says:

    1) I never saw GO, but I’ll take your advice
    2) Clerks sucks
    3) I Love Lamp

  22. JoeNo Gravatar Says:

    I havn’t seen Go or Clerks…or Anchorman…*shifty eyes*

  23. Steven Beynon (EpicBomb)No Gravatar Says:

Clerks is kinda cool, but lost its edge for me over time. Never seen Go, I’ll probably never encounter it either. So I guess I’m safe.
I didn’t even like Anchorman after a second watch. I guess I’m the only one…

  24. MikeydCTNo Gravatar Says:

Just keep that Clerks II unwraped.

  25. stevendeeNo Gravatar Says:

I am a firm believer in the kevin smithian law: the older you get, the less talented he seems.

  26. SpiredCrescent7No Gravatar Says:

Clerks is awesome and an Anchorman sequel would be great, but not so sure about Go.

  27. lawnjartNo Gravatar Says:

“The Legend of Ron Burgundy” was a sort of unofficial sequel, and it made me fall asleep. I think a full fledged sequel would be a terrible idea…like drinking milk on a hot day.

  28. Citan76No Gravatar Says:

Nice Dr. Pepper gamer tag dude.

  29. LepukeNo Gravatar Says:

Clerks is still great, especially for its time.
Having grown up in that time I can still perfectly appreciate its themes and humor.

Clerks 2… eh, I came away from that one feeling pretty good. I had such low expectations at the start that I was surprised that there still is some great dialog there. Oh yeah and “Kinky Kelly”

I got a movie recommendation for ya. Sgt. Kabukiman N.Y.P.D.
I just watched that for the first time this weekend and it was a good time. But you gotta have an appreciation of low budget Troma movies to really enjoy it.
In my opinion it’s one of their best.

  30. Kyle CNo Gravatar Says:

What’s wrong with Clerks? I loves it! Would be interested to hear you elaborate on that.

I love Clerks II also, but you have to go into it accepting the fact that it will be a completely different film from Clerks. I think it’s of equally quality, but in a totally different way.

  31. lesterspiffNo Gravatar Says:

I think GO is fin as a new experience. Raves and Xegas and nice drug dealers are pretty played out, but if you haven’t seen it, go ahead. It’s still an enjoyable, funny movie. I still remember being impressed with the reveal of the creepy cop’s motivation for having the gay couple over for dinner.

On the subject of Clerks, I’ll be happy if I never hear anything about Kevin Smith or his movies again. Clerks was perfect for its time - Randall was a great character - but Smith has ruined everything that was fun about it with everything else he’s done since.

  32. lesterspiffNo Gravatar Says:

    “fine” “VEGAS”… damn.

Oh and while I like Will Ferell, I can’t see any of his movies making for decent sequels. I’m also getting kind of tired of annoying/dumb funny. I miss comedies like Albert Brooks’s early stuff.

  33. PicoNo Gravatar Says:

Much as I love The Clash and Mick Jones, Big Audio Dynamite only has two or three songs that I genuinely like (Rush, Medicine Show, and maybe E=MC²), and the rest fill me with inertia.

  34. metamorphicNo Gravatar Says:

Pink Floyd is a great band.

“Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day
you fritter and waste the hours in an offhand way
kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town
waiting for someone or something to show you the way”

    *tearing a little bit*

Guy 1: are you crying mate?

Guy 2: no no is just air circulation here you know…

  35. Ethan (OneLoneClone on xbl)No Gravatar Says:

I agree with Pico on Big Audio Dynamite. Medicine Show, e=mc2 are tops and the rest is meh.

  36. Rowr14No Gravatar Says:

I watched Air force one last night on tv.

That movie does not hold up well post iraq war, though it gives it an extra layer of hilarious entertainment.

Much like watching anything with outdated ideas, although it was always kind of funny with the ridiculous American patriotism which was extremely prevelant in movies at the time. Being Australian (or anywhere outside America i guess) Over the top patriotic red white and blue moments have always been particularly hilarious and or frustrating to watch.

If only George Bush had the charisma of Harrison Ford, would he have pulled it off? These are the interesting hypotheticals this movie will challenge you to in todays times.

  37. DaveNo Gravatar Says:

I was going to defend GO then, but when movies like Human Traffic are still going a decade on why bother.

I can only watch GO once or twice a year.
Human Traffic on the other hand has sapped 40+ hours of my life that it can keep, it deserves them.
