Donkey Kong?
April 16th, 2008 at 12:14 am
Spent the last hour or so discussing with Brendan about how, exactly, a 4th Fast and the Furious movie should work. Apparently it’s just going to be called “Fast And Furious.” AAAAAH THIS FRANCHISE HAS TOO MANY WORDS IN IT, LET’S STRIP IT DOWN TO THE BARE ESSENTIALS!
Look, I understand and appreciate the concept of making another one with Vin Diesel and Paul Walker in it, but–and this shouldn’t surprise you–I’m not interested unless it has ties to the Tokyo Drift story, as well.
If the IMDB entry is to be believed, it will… but this doesn’t make much sense to me. They have Sung Kang listed as Han, the same dude he played in Tokyo Drift and Better Luck Tomorrow… but Han died in Tokyo Drift. OR DID HE!?!?!?!!?
So, then, does this film fit in a hole between the second movie and Tokyo Drift? That would explain the Vin Diesel cameo at the end of Tokyo Drift, where he claims to have “rolled” with Han in the past.
Christ, I totally can’t believe I’m sitting here dissecting this. Truth be told, I can’t remember how Rich and I decided that we were going to go see Tokyo Drift in theaters, but that decision somehow managed to ruin/enhance/ruin my life almost immeasurably.
Unless it takes place out of sequence, this movie needs Lucas Black in it. And with that mini-explosion out of my system, I can now sleep soundly.

blah blah blah - where’s the new points video? I don’t come here to read!
p.s. just kidding. but yeah, points. cmon.
April 16th, 2008 at 1:23 am
I might actually have to see this. I need to find out why this is such a cult classic.
April 16th, 2008 at 1:40 am
It isn’t a cult classic; Jeff just has an unhealthy obsession with it.
Why, by the way? What makes the Tokyo Drift one better then the other 2? They all seem pretty generic-but-deliciously-watchable to me.
April 16th, 2008 at 1:49 am
You won’t be able to get this one on HD-DVD!
April 16th, 2008 at 1:53 am
Yeah, I am kind of the same way as you. These movies are not great or anything, but there is something about the series that kinda has had me hooked since the first.
April 16th, 2008 at 3:09 am
I thought the 1st movie was pretty awesome, 2nd was just OK and the 3rd one was plain awful, that accent *shudders, but with Walker and Diesal returning for the 4th, hopefull it’ll be as awesome as the 1st.
And eah, like pendantics said, Points?
April 16th, 2008 at 4:07 am
Haha, and the funny thing is, you and I will both go and see this movie when it comes out, even if it will be pretty bad, just for the sake of saying that we’ve seen all of the Fast and the Furious movies.
Meh, who knows, maybe it’ll be good, maybe it won’t. At least we don’t have to worry about there being “FIVE GRAND” on the line.
April 16th, 2008 at 4:47 am
ooooooooooooooo, jeff fooled me into thinking this was about donkey kong. You sly devil you
April 16th, 2008 at 5:24 am
You’re thinking way too hard about this. The key is going to be just sitting back and ENJOYING THE RIIIIIIIDE.
(PS, the Launch in recently listening? Wow. Kickin it old-schoo.)
April 16th, 2008 at 5:57 am
Dang, I thought this was going to be about Donkey Kong or something… don’t know why, but maybe that title had something to do with it…
April 16th, 2008 at 6:27 am
Let me get this right…
You are trying to make sense out of a Fast and Furious movie? That is like trying to make orange juice out of watermelons. Those movies throw any logic, characters, storyline or physics out of the window just to have bigger and faster explosions…
Good luck with that, anyway…
April 16th, 2008 at 7:00 am
The second one sucked. Horribly. The 2 others, on the other hand, rocked my nuts off.
April 16th, 2008 at 8:24 am
WHAT!?!°?°?°!!
The marvelous man we know as Han is character in another movie and I didn´t know about that?
Oh, and thanks for ruining/enhancing/ruining my life saying how awesome that movie was. When you bought it on HD DVD I got curious and well… I can´t see it on TV or else I can´t change the channel until the movie is over. Do you know how many previews/reviews have been submitted later then they should have because of this? Do you? Well, I´ll tell you: 1… But it´s about principal.
Well, in conclusion: I need a 360 HD DVD drive and they need to make a sequel to Tokyo Drift, have it be a separate series or something, I DON´T CARE! Just give me more of whatever the hell made that movie so awesome/bad/awesome.
April 16th, 2008 at 8:24 am
The 4th one is going to be the best one EVER! I can’t wait for it to come out so we can take new inside jokes and quotes from it!
April 16th, 2008 at 8:31 am
Han has a blog! http://sungkang.com/
April 16th, 2008 at 11:33 am
From what I hear, the 4th one is suppose to be a sort of reunion with the cast of the 1st one. Leading me to be believe, that it will be A: awesome and B: the last one in the series.
April 16th, 2008 at 3:06 pm
I would kill to see another Fast and Furious movie. Or would I?
April 16th, 2008 at 3:49 pm
I just want this one to comprise a darker, grittier theme and cinematography as opposed to the mtv’ised 2nd and 3rd.
April 16th, 2008 at 5:23 pm
hahaha this guy on imdb said the title should be
the fast and the 4ious. hahahahahaha
April 16th, 2008 at 5:57 pm
I thought Tokyo Drift was direct-to-DVD…
April 16th, 2008 at 6:17 pm
The best thing that could possibly happen in this movie would be if Paul Walker taught Han to drift, and in doing so, caused drifting to spread through Japan and become as awesome as it is in Tokyo Drift. It would be the greatest movie ever made.
April 16th, 2008 at 9:49 pm
Wait…Tokyo Drift had a story?!
April 17th, 2008 at 1:48 am
Dude! Spoilers!
April 17th, 2008 at 11:37 am
Maybe it will be a prequel? Takes place before Vin and Lucas Black have their race in Tokyo Drift? Or Maybe at the end of the fourth movie Vin wakes up in bed and finds Han in the shower? Realizing that all of Tokyo Drift was a dream?
God bless, Dallas.
April 17th, 2008 at 8:44 pm
Ok Jeff, its more than a theory because I read it somewhere months ago: Fast and the Furious 4 is a prequel, but a prequel to the 3rd or 2nd one is unknown. It could take place right after the 1st one, which would explain the disappearance of Diesel in the 2nd one, because he had to leave the country for awhile, so Paul Walker send him overseas to Han, making Han almost an undercover contact. After the heat between Diesel’s character cools down, he returns and the rest of the gang is waiting.

I have a feeling this will be one of those movies I plan on never seeing or knowing anything about it but under some sort of weird circumstances i see it and it is something completly different to what i expected to see. ow well, u get that
April 18th, 2008 at 4:29 am
What about your shoulder? I seem to be the only one concerned about you, man.
April 19th, 2008 at 2:53 pm
I was under the impression that no one on earth enjoyed the “Fast and Furious” movies. I’m very disappointed in you Mr. Jeff.
April 22nd, 2008 at 7:17 pm
I think I should see Tokyo Drift… I’m in need of some good ol’ fashioned entertainment.
What’s your opinion… Crank or Tokyo Drift? (Which being better)
April 24th, 2008 at 4:30 am
DUDE!!! where is your next points post? Its missed!
April 24th, 2008 at 12:17 pm

Yes, your theory about Han still being alive might very well stick. Save for one thing: how would it explain Paul Walker’s role in the movie? The way I see it is this:
The second movie was a direct sequel to the first movie. The fourth movie wasn’t a sequel to any of the movies, but the final scenes of it hinted at a prequel story to the first movie. But if it’s a prequel to the first movie, then Paul Walker (forgot the name of his character) can’t be in it since he first met up with Vin Diesel’s character in the first movie, effectively cutting him out of a prequel to that movie. But it can’t be a movie that falls between the first and second one either because Paul Walker’s character is supposed to be on the run. So the only viable option here would be a movie that falls between the second and the third one, unless Han mysteriously survived in that movie, in which case it could be set after the third one.
There. I hope I helped disorganize your thoughts even more. *cue evil laughter*
April 26th, 2008 at 8:40 pm
hey! this is weird.. that guy jeff is pretty much like myself… only i weight a bit less… que loco!
April 28th, 2008 at 7:06 am
Damn. Who knew The Fast and the Furious was so deep.
May 4th, 2008 at 7:48 pm
Well according to Wikipedia (so take this information with a grain of salt) this movie really is going to be a prequel to the 3rd one. So this movie would go in between F&F2 and Tokyo Drift.
May 7th, 2008 at 2:39 pm
The fact that you dedicated an entire entry to “The Fast and the Furious” series, I have lost loads of respect for your thoughts.
Ugh.

Eat a third and drink a third and leave the remaining third of your stomach empty. Then, when you get angry, there will be sufficient room for your rage.

Just watched this film and jesus! Defintely one of the worst films that i’ve seen in ages, especially in terms of acting, the smiles from Lucas Black, the idea of meeting Bow Wow in Tokyo, the oldest son from Home Improvement, the list is endless, but yet somehow i still enjoyed it… and after looking up their now filming 4, i’m thinking i might have to go see it…
Nothing makes sense anymore…
