Burnout Patch Notes
March 5th, 2008 at 12:35 am
It’s not out yet, but Criterion has posted a list of fixes coming to Burnout Paradise on both the 360 and PS3.
I ran into a few of these issues over the 104 hours I played the game, but the only major one was having the game hang when it tried to connect to the game servers to match up with other players. That got frustrating after awhile. This one also looks interesting:
“Enhanced 360 streaming performance stops instances where the game seems to pause for a second or so.”
I’m not sure I ever really ran into that one, but I’ve bumped into a couple of spots where the frame rate would hitch up for a bit. I don’t know if that’s what this is referring to or not.
I’m still around 40 events short from my Elite license, but I haven’t played the game in at least a week, probably more like two weeks. After that patch hits, I’ll probably jump back in and try to finish it out, but I keep getting wrapped up in other games.
While I’m writing, I should mention that we recorded another podcast tonight, Ryan’ll probably edit and post it tomorrow. There’s something else that’s been keeping me pretty busy lately, too, but we can talk more about that later.

I’ve been dying for my APD fix!
Thanks for the update Jeff:)
So I take it you went with the 360 version of Paradise becos of the achievements?
March 5th, 2008 at 12:54 am
Jeff, YOU TEASE!
March 5th, 2008 at 1:09 am
That wasn’t cool man. Now you have to explain what you’re up to within 5 1/2 days. That’s the rule, look it up.
March 5th, 2008 at 1:30 am
Jeff, with all this teasing and plugging of upcoming things, maybe you should get out of the games business and think about booking pro wrestling. I’m sure you could do TNA some good.
March 5th, 2008 at 1:44 am

March 5th, 2008 at 3:48 am
Yeah the patch for Burnout sounds like it’ll be a good move. I’m very interested in the DLC they mentioned too.
Woooooo on the announcement of the new podcast episode. That will be straight on my iPod as soon as possible.

Read between the lines guys.
Jeff: “There’s something else that’s been keeping me pretty busy lately, too, but we can talk more about that later.”
Ryan: “I’ve grappled with some interesting professional developments–but I won’t get into too much more detail about that right now.”
March 5th, 2008 at 4:01 am
Dude I hope this “business” you are busy with is all this rumoured shit with Vince Broady. Seeing you and him and the other guys form a new gaming site or anything like that would be so fucking awesome. Looking forward to the podcast man, take it easy.

While I really like the idea of you getting a new job working at basically any of the major sites (my vote would be for 1up though), I also like what you got going on right now with the blog and the podcast, its very personal and I feel somewhat more connected to you and your adventures (well as much as you can be “connected” to a person over a blog that you’ve never met). Anyway, best of luck with what ever it is you end up doing.
I Just figured it out!! Midnight Brown . . . . world tour! . . . . No? . . . ok then.
March 5th, 2008 at 6:29 am
Hey Jeff let us know how Army of Two is!
March 5th, 2008 at 6:30 am
Busy with something else, huh? Looking forward to hearing all about it. I see Bully in your 360 profile - how’s it looking? Arrives here tomorrow, really keen to play it.
Any plans on changing that Gamertag for yours yet Jeff?
March 5th, 2008 at 6:55 am
Question for you next video ok Jeff Thanks:
What guilty pleasures do you have. Or games that you keep playing and dont know why. Like for me its Perfect DArk Zero, I dont know why I keep play it know that there are so many better shooters out since then. Yet, I still do from time to time.
March 5th, 2008 at 7:02 am
JEFF YOU BASTARD STOP TEASING US!!!!
Joking though,
no seriously tell us, or just me yeah just me.
March 5th, 2008 at 7:13 am
Console games suck.
Why insult yourself by playing them.
March 5th, 2008 at 7:26 am
Hey Jeff, Im doing a research on video games for school and I would like to know your opinion on how video games affect the world. Thx
March 5th, 2008 at 7:27 am
Didn’t your parents teach you not to tease people! Hope your plans are announced soon. Cheers.
March 5th, 2008 at 8:21 am
Hahaha you should totally make now later.
March 5th, 2008 at 8:24 am
oooohhhhh snap jeff! let us in on project: aftermath. thats what im calling it.
March 5th, 2008 at 8:59 am
Woo! new Arrow Pointing down!
March 5th, 2008 at 10:00 am
Wow this is great. The only bug I ever ran into was the hanging “connecting to server” thing, but I’m more excited about the gameplay improvements, specifically, giving more control for drifting while boosting. There’s a real lack of control problem in the game as it is now.
The constant road rule timers is good too. What’s this?? You can exploit the marked man AI by driving in reverse? Thank you, Criterion. Heh heh, nah, I probably won’t try it. Exploiting is lame.
March 5th, 2008 at 10:04 am
When is Rich Gallup going to be on the podcast? On a side note, army of two… yes or no
March 5th, 2008 at 10:24 am
Hey!
I’m available if you guys are hiring!
March 5th, 2008 at 11:05 am
Speaking of games that need patches, is anybody else experiencing problems with Bully Scholarship Ed. on 360? Its locked up on me twice now, both times during combat. There is also audio stutter when certain segments of the game load and it usually only lasts for about 4-5 seconds. Still gonna hang in there but if I have to backtrack and go back to the dorm constantly to save for fear of losing progress due to lockups then thats gonna kind of suck. Jeff, I see you are playing it (presumably on an elite) and see you too only have the Keener achievment so far. How has it been for you?
March 5th, 2008 at 11:34 am
“There’s something else that’s been keeping me pretty busy lately, too, but we can talk more about that later.”
Why must you tease us, Jeff? Why?
March 6th, 2008 at 12:41 am
You’ve said it before: “We got some really cool plans for the future” or something like that… Now Ryan is talking about “Profesional development” and you’re just tease?!??! What the hell is up with u guys?! I need some answers,,, like NOW!
March 7th, 2008 at 3:47 pm
I think the pausing might actually be more prevalent on the ps3 because I had that happen about 5 or 6 times a few times in a row while I was downloading some demo in the background
