Podcast Is Go!

February 25th, 2008 at 9:58 am

After spending a few hours setting up microphones and yelling at a laptop, we’ve recorded another installment of the Ryan Davis Weekly Podcast Classic, the Arrow Pointing Down podcast.

Sounds like there’s a bit of echo, primarily from mic bleed if I had to guess, but the high ceiling in my living room probably didn’t help matters much. Either way, it sounds way better than the Skype-based test we did last week, and is probably more scattered and insane than last week’s, too! So check that out!

Stellar podcasting! Looking forward to the next episode. 100% improvement over last week - The quality was really good and the fact that you were in the same room made it so much better. Thanx and keep up the good work guys!!

    Jeff ftw

  3. UndoneNo Gravatar Says:

That was decisively … random? Awsome none the less! Keep ‘em comin’!!!

  4. LoganNo Gravatar Says:

I can’t get over the superb intro/outro music. It’s so intense. Makes me think of the music they played under the announcer on Double Dare when he was telling people what prizes they were competing for.

  5. DrTonesNo Gravatar Says:

You guys just made my day man……and that’s an understatement!

  6. IncredibleBulk92No Gravatar Says:

Just subscribed on the UK iTunes Podcast section. Um haven’t listened to it yet but its telling me that both potcasts are 1 minute 1 second long which seems a bit wrong really. Anyone else get this? Know how to solve it?

You guys are somehow already the number 1 podcast on the UK iTunes too… surely theres some problem here lol

  7. ontheochoNo Gravatar Says:

The Upside-down A looks awesome on my iPod touch when I listened to the podcast. So glad you guys are bringing the fire.

  8. Cody A.No Gravatar Says:

Calling this podcast “classic” is in no way premature.

I love it, three thumbs up.

  9. truepatriotNo Gravatar Says:

  13. JohnNo Gravatar Says:

good edition of the arrow pointing down podcast. i didn’t get along with Jelly Car either - it’s sooooo annoying.

  14. Death BurnoutNo Gravatar Says:

I was kinda a fan of the skype sound, dont know why but Your voice on skype sounded…better? maybe not. The echo was a little trippy, especially when you managed to hear the furture…ot something like that im not sure what was going on.

    It was Good.

  15. Kyle CNo Gravatar Says:

    that was quite entertaining

  23. AlexNo Gravatar Says:

    all kinds of awesome

  24. lantusNo Gravatar Says:

Dude! You guys need to put this up on iTunes , I mean once you guys finalize what you’re really doing, it would be hell cool, man.

Downloaded to iTunes. Awaiting my hearing pleasure.

  27. Niklas JohanssonNo Gravatar Says:

A bit less polished and a bit less about games then your old gamespot podcast but this is definitely something I like. Keep them comming PLEASE !
(If you can get Rich to participate I wont get mad ;) )

  28. HofferNo Gravatar Says:

    Downloading now

  29. JoeNo Gravatar Says:

    Who was the mystery guest?!

  30. Robert FlanniganNo Gravatar Says:

I’m so happy you’re podcasting again. When I lost the Hotspot, I tried replacing it with Game Theory, but it’s just not the same. Long live the Arrow Pointing Down-cast!

Bring on Rich and Carrie! And Bob!

  31. Jason ENo Gravatar Says:

The drink discussions and reviews should be a weekly segment for the drink enthusiast such as myself.

  32. KevinNo Gravatar Says:

this is easilly becoming my favorite podcast

  33. KlonoaNo Gravatar Says:

ALEX NAVARRO IS ON TOO ??!!?? W00T ROBOCOP FTW

  34. Traced-VelocityNo Gravatar Says:

The whole thing felt random… But awesome nonetheless.

  35. ServantesNo Gravatar Says:

Grood podcast. Not great, not good, it was Grood. I suggest less talk about gatorade, more talk about games.

    keep it comming

  36. gscottps2No Gravatar Says:

    Awesome keep ‘em coming Jeff!

  37. KorubiNo Gravatar Says:

Great, but volume could be a little higher.

  38. Robot FishNo Gravatar Says:

Intro music F ing rules. And Word bitch we out! loololol

  39. Patrick PachecoNo Gravatar Says:

You might end up getting sucked into Lost… cuz the game is getting amazing reviews.

  40. SanjNo Gravatar Says:

Hey Jeff, just a suggestion (which is irrelevant to this article btw), how about getting some colour on your blog page? Or something besides black…It’s kinda depressing to look at when i’m here…Some banners and such like Ryans and Alex’s page would also be a good idea.

  41. FoolInjectionNo Gravatar Says:

Great Podcast… I’m now signed up over iTunes… THIS is the reason I listened to HotSpot.

I have so many VHS tapes with that intro jingle its awesome.

Question though… Goldeneye on the 360… Likelihood of this ever happening ?

  42. ScottG13No Gravatar Says:

Bizarrely enough, this crew has quickly skyrocketed to the top of my favored podcasts list. Irreverent, funny, but still thoughtful.

In fact, all of you are much more entertaining without the restraints of an employer to mind. I hope you can keep it up and figure out where Rich Gallup is and bring him along for the ride.

  43. JockyNo Gravatar Says:

Bizarre podcast. I like it. Two things:

    1. Need a bit more work on your levels. Alex sounded like he was in a cave and Jeff occasionally made my ears bleed.

    2. Can you please hunt down Rich Gallup and get him on?

  44. red5112No Gravatar Says:

I love this podcast, I’ve already subscribed on iTunes

  45. *sketchNo Gravatar Says:

Probably the funniest podcast I’ve heard since The Hotspot, the ‘Haze is the shit’ thing xD

  46. ZmillANo Gravatar Says:

“and jeff I see you have a candy bar over there, you wanna talk about that for a little bit?”

    “yeah I do…”

    classic :)

  47. luberikNo Gravatar Says:

    nice podcast, woohoo

  48. lesterspiffNo Gravatar Says:

I’m really enjoying the food parts. I think my favorite HotSpot ever was the one where you guys wouldn’t stop mocking Oreo Pizza, so this is right up my alley.

  49. GrevenNo Gravatar Says:

Nice podcast. Way better than the present Hotspot. Cant wait for the next one. Although I would wish if you could stop swearing. It’s really not funny.

  50. DaveCNo Gravatar Says:

WAIT one darn minute, “Korn On Xbox Live
Challenge Jonathan Davis to a rousing game of Halo 3.
by IGN Music.” Huh? Need i say more?

  51. JeffNo Gravatar Says:

Don’t listen to Greven man. I love the swearing. It just feels more authentic. That was my biggest problem with the Hotspot. I can’t stand when people bleep words out.

  52. GregNo Gravatar Says:

    SUCCESS!!

  53. DaveCNo Gravatar Says:

Speaking of the HotSpot, you guys gonna bring back the music??

  54. Sega AgesNo Gravatar Says:

Very nice improvement in sound quality + good balance between funny and serious content… will look forward to this every week!

  55. Niklas JohanssonNo Gravatar Says:

    A few more points:

    Intro music is great !
Food segment should be a regular inclusion, talk about all sorts of food; snacks , drinks, favourite fast food joints etc.

Get it just a bit more organised and bring on Rich Gallup !

    Thanks again.

    //Niklas

  56. oddWordNo Gravatar Says:

The fucking intro music is awesome

  57. Corey B.No Gravatar Says:

Hearing the PBS intro at the beginning is such a subliminal way to bring me back to that feeling of watching television as a kid…you sly cheeky bastards! Another great podcast but please tell Ryan to stay off the Pabst Blue Ribbon…that is hobo fuel.

  58. David P.No Gravatar Says:

Awesome Podcast. Once you guys left I deleted my Hotspot podcast and was without the awesomeness you deliver. It is still a bit random and a bit bad on sound levels, but I know that will improve.

If you can get Rich Gallup on this podcast the circle would be complete.

  59. davidNo Gravatar Says:

Google you can’t beat 100% and see what google has to say about it.

  60. Peter LeBlancNo Gravatar Says:

Is the intro music an actuall song or did you just make it for the podcast either way i need moar! MP3 pleeeeeeease

  61. CubeNo Gravatar Says:

The RSS for the podcast does not seem to support the PSP something it don’t like is in the HTML or something.

Just spits out HTML. THat reall sucks since i use my psp for podcast on the go with RSS.

the intro music is like from a 1980’s cartoon VHS tapes I have herd it before.

  62. jusitnNo Gravatar Says:

    Bring back GALLUP!

    … epic.
