One More Thing…

MS also announced the availability of several XNA demos on the Xbox 360. You can download and play them right now. Engadget has written up a fairly succinct story on how to download the necessary objects, so head over there for details on that. I definitely recommend playing The Dishwasher, it’s great. Haven’t tried the others yet, but hey! They’re free! Catch ‘em all, people!

XNA? Great! But do they have points?

Wortortle.

I saw a few previews of some of them and they look really cool. My question is will they be available to purchase at some point?

Yeah, the Dishwasher is rad. I was surprised that one of the games was so genuinely entertaining. Little gamers was alright too.

Dishwasher is pretty good. I think JellyCar is worthy of a mention too.
Microsoft announced in their keynote that they’d making the Community Games service available later this year, essentially enabling XNA devs to police themselves – as and when a game is submitted, fellow devs get to rate it on various factors, and if it passes, then it’ll be available on the service. They reckon there’ll be over 1000 titles after the first year of the service, but I wonder how much of that will be worth playing.

Woah! Why was a bigger deal not made of this?

dishwasher is definetly the best one out of the bunch, the rest seem pretty ameteur ( I wonder why that could be)

Gotta catch ‘em all! Gotta catch ‘em all! Free Arcade Games!

You and Ryan Davis doing any drinking yet? I know that you guys were getting psyched for some drinking nights on the podcast lol. By the way, for some reason the “Tiger” Gatorade has not made it’s way to the Midwest yet…. I know, devastating.

Thanks for the heads-up Jeff. I am slowly posting my impressions of each game on my blog if anyone wants to check it out. (click my name and don’t worry it’s not porn and it’s safe for work)

The Dishwasher is the best in the set. Day one purchase, for me.
The rest range from “Hey, that’s novel for a few minutes.” to “Ugh, bad homebrew software.”

I downloaded some of the XNA-demos, but i thought that The Dishwasher and Little Gamer was the best of the lot.

It’s very exciting to see XNA progress to this point. Microsoft has been promising this feature since the launch of XBOX 360.
I want to make my own game, but it is a time issue. I have the technical know-how (20+ years of programming since I was 7), but my regular job keeps me very busy.

Jelly Car was a pretty cool play. The level design needs some work but the rest of the game is very impressive.
