Capcom finally announced the 2D downloadable Bionic Commando game they’ve been working on as a companion piece to the big console version. I feel like I’m wasting space by even typing anything about this game, since you probably all understand how awesome this whole Bionic Commando renaissance is.
I’m actually pretty blown away by the fact that this is a full remake. I guess I expected it to be more of the typical downloadable remakes–the original game with optional updated graphics and music. Instead, they’re making a new game with new moves, two-player co-op, and all kinds of other sweet business. Get with this trailer if you haven’t seen it yet:
I was already stupid pumped for the full-fledged Bionic Commando sequel, but I think I might be more excited for Rearmed now. The trailer, with its nice remix of the original music, makes me want to go jump up and go jogging. Seriously. Pumped.
Did they go and change the Bionic Commando guy’s name again? It was Rad Spencer before, which is the perfect name for such an extreme dude. Then they backpedaled to Nathan Spencer at some point for the new game, then I started seeing Nathan "Rad" Spencer. Now the official site says Nathan "R.A.D." Spencer. Sure, why not? Making things into acronyms always makes them cooler. But why stop at one D? R.A.D.D. is D times more radical than R.A.D. is.
Have they said what R.A.D. stands for, or are we currently left to make something up? How about "Rippin’ Arm, Dude!" Or "Rig Audio Dynamite?" Hmm. Well, the remake is out in the Spring (that’s soon!), so we won’t have long to wait to find out.

Oh my god. That is so awesome. What cooler is that it unlocks the classic skin for the new game coming out. That’s just awesome. I can’t wait for this game!

I’m not as excited by the news as you guys, probably because I’ve never played the original. Still, I’m looking forward to try it. It does look like a polished game.

I still got my NES and bionic commando. This looks better than the 3d game.
Im happy they give you a Classic bionic commmando skin for the 3d game (at end of trailer) with this game.
That new hero character they have for the 3d Bonic commando I hate. He looks like a dirty white skined jamican with dread locks that has been stranded on an island for 14 years. (or jason momoa AKA ronan from stargate atlantis who should play nathen spencer if there is movie)
You think they give him an army haircut if he was in a POW prison or where ever he was being kept. That can’t be the same character from the NES game can it? It was LaDD then radd spencer. Now it’s radd nathen spencer? What the hell?
Just leave the retro cheesyness Alone that is what makes it cool. The guys name is RADD just leave it the way it is and he is fighting badd.
Oh well who cares I am using the Awsome Retro skin for the whole 3d bionic commando with 1980′s sunglasses and amry cut, green suit and all, it’s sweet.

I have actually been avoiding that trailer for some reason in spite of all the awesome many have promised. Thank you sir for suggesting that I watch it with haste, it was amazing. It looks like the game has a perfect “feel” to it, which is exactly what Bionic Commando needs: super tight control.

Capcom proves again it’s one of the few Japanese companies that understand what a Western audience wants. Although Devil May Cry is still a bit too girly man for my liking with that story.
Konami should really pay attention to this. They’ve got a killer line up in that NES library, it’s time to stop crapping out Castlevania sloppy seconds on the DS and make a proper 2.5D remake of the original. And where’s my new goddamn Jackal?! Assault Heroes was OK, but it ain’t no Jackal.
Capcom mentioned that they were looking at other old titles to get this treatment. Some mentioned were Gun.Smoke, Forgoten Worlds, and Legendary Wings. How about the best damn sword game from Capcom without Strider in the name, Trojan!
I can already think of an awesome name:

Bionic Commando i would think has the potential to be one of those games to come out of nowhere and be a great memory of 2008. Capcom has been on a role since the next-gen started and I expect the majority of their stuff to continue with high quality.

Yeah, capcom is totally on a roll with the next (or more current) gen, unlike most other japanese dev teams.
What´s up with konami? Besides Metal gear and Pro evo soccer i don´t hear much of em (i guess metal gear is enough to make em do well, but, hm..), square enix is only pumping out one japanese style rpg after the other and all seem to become more and more similar to me and best of all doing (moneywise) is Nintendo who seems to more and more giving up on traditional games and cater for casual minded people more than anyone else.
Its not all craptacular but compared to snes/early ps 1 times the japanese devs for the biggest part seem to have fallen behind the US studios. Well,Suda is cool, Capcom mostly does great (i wish they wouldn´t have wasted the Okami creators, closing that studio was a bummer), so not all bad.
Anyway.. got into ranting after coding all night, so to get back on topic: Any info when this 2.5 D BC is coming out?

Yeah, the claymation art-style is pretty amazing. Looks great, but probably too “hardcore” for my tastes. If it’s anything like Contra, I’ll pass.

OH man that music. If all the music is THAT masterfully remixed this will turn out to be one of the greatest soundtracks in YEARS. I can watch that trailer over and over just to hear that music again. Give me mp3 version!

I know im a musician when i get totally blown away by anything with awesome music, i never played the original bionic commando and i’m not really hyped for the new one, but this remake i really cannot wait for, CO-OP!! WITH AWESOME MUSIC!!

Pumped here too. I was pumped since the announcement of the new Bionic Commando and I’m sure it will be great, but in the end 2D-gameplay is where BC should be. Hopefully it will be out soon.

Any of you who have not played the original are missing out sooo bad. That game is one of my favorites of all time. I’m a little skeptical about the proper sequel, but this remake looks absolutely sick.

Hearing about this game kind of made me chuckle, but then I saw the trailer and thought… how can Capcom be so kind! Maybe someone made them do this at gun point or even better they appreciate their crazy fans (like me)
The next-gen version looks promosing so far and this remake will keep me nice and busy until its release. As for R.A.D

I actually haven’t gotten a chance to play the origanl BC but this game looks pretty cool. I hope it has the original version included as well. That would be great.

Two things about this story strike me.
1) Making things into acronyms does infact make things cooler.
2) R.A.D.D. is infact D times more radical than R.A.D. is. This has been mathmatically proven.
As for the game itself, might be just a little too old for me to remember. I may have played it in my time, but I can’t remember for sure.
