Points! 12/18/2007
December 19th, 2007 at 9:39 pm
Points! with Jeff Gerstmann (12/18/2007)
This is the first installment of Points!, a semi-regular video blog where I’ll talk about the Xbox 360 achievement points I’ve earned. Actually, that’s really only the start of it. From there it tends to spiral out to cover whatever the heck else comes out of my mouth while the camera is on.
I originally wanted to post this to YouTube, but I forgot they had a lame 10-minute limit. I thought about signing up for Vimeo or Revver or something, then figured I’d try MySpace. If you have any suggestions about video uploading services, lemme know!
This one mostly sticks to the original concept of talking about achievement points, just to provide a sort of jumping-off point. But my pick for Game of the Year is in here, too. Here’s a hint: it’s multiplatform, and you shoot dudes. What can I say? Great year for shooters.
[UPDATE] After a lot of recommendations, I decided to give Stage6 a shot. A higher-quality version of this video can be found here. Since it requires a download and installation before viewing, I doubt I’ll embed Stage6 videos or use it as a default format, but maybe I’ll just upload it to multiple locations when I finish it. I’ll just need to figure out why the aspect ratio got a bit off.
December 19th, 2007 at 9:44 pm
Awesome! I’ve been waiting for another one of these for a long time.
December 19th, 2007 at 9:55 pm
rock!!
December 19th, 2007 at 9:57 pm
Points!
Love these shows.
December 19th, 2007 at 10:05 pm
The best part is Alex in the background.
December 19th, 2007 at 10:05 pm
Yay, finally another one of these. Keep em coming! And lol at Alex!
December 19th, 2007 at 10:25 pm
Stage6 is a great video hosting service.
December 19th, 2007 at 10:29 pm
This reminds me of a video someone made of themselves getting high on that show Intervention. I can already see Alex Navarro as the enabler….
December 19th, 2007 at 10:38 pm
Finally, the Points! have returned!
December 19th, 2007 at 10:44 pm
Points report. WOO! Love these things.
December 19th, 2007 at 10:44 pm
That part where you said you get up late in the morning and check to see if peeps be online to be gaming? Yea, this chick here does that shiznit, too, minus the getting up part.
And the friends part.
I must not exist: a non-social female-gamer. I *double* not exist.
Keep hanging in there, Jeffster. Keep rolling, man. Keep the awesome, dude. Keep the stuff, aight?
December 19th, 2007 at 10:47 pm
yeah, Call of Duty 4 is amazing. I just bought the PS3 version even though I own the 360 version already, the game is that good (I like my PS3 better) and despite what many people think Super Mario Galaxy is actually pretty average. So I’m stuck with my GOTY its either CoD4 or Bioshock
December 19th, 2007 at 10:52 pm
Nice hat. Why didn’t Alex have a hat? Maybe an old Houston Astros hat? At what rank in COD 4 can you hold more grenades? Is holding more grenades awesome? If a Big Daddy were to fight Jean Claude Van Damme who would win? I think everyone would win.
December 19th, 2007 at 10:55 pm
Glad to see you’re still alive Jeff. Have you given Ace Combat 6 a try?
December 19th, 2007 at 11:00 pm
Damn its good to have you back.
December 19th, 2007 at 11:01 pm
I’m just going to continue John Lewis’s line of thought:
What do you think of the collective critical drooling over Bioshock? Is it worthy of ALL the praise it’s getting? Will this blog stay active once the ‘new projects’ start building momentum? Will you then be able to comment on the Gamespot business? What do you get when you cross Sir Elton John with a Saber-Toothed Tiger? I don’t know either, but you had better keep it away from your asshole.
Tell Alex that there is a Sonic the Hedgehog invite he ought to look into.
December 19th, 2007 at 11:09 pm
Dude! Points! I was waiting to ask for this, for fear of coming off as unappreciative of your other blog posts. Bangin!
December 19th, 2007 at 11:31 pm
Score. Keep it coming, you righteous dude.
December 19th, 2007 at 11:46 pm
I would just like to complain about Alex’s presence in the background. While watching this first installment of Points!, I found myself, at times, focusing solely on Alex’s background antics as opposed to Jeff’s commentary. As a result, I had to go back and re-watch parts of the segment. You have to understand, Jeff, that the only thing worse than playing more video games than is probably recommended, is watching someone else talk about the copious amount of video games that they play when taking a break from video games myself. And the only thing worse than that, is having to go back and watch that person talk about video games multiple times! So Alex, either sit still or nod and shake your head elsewhere, buddy.
December 19th, 2007 at 11:50 pm
I got used to seeing you every week on “On The Spot”, and I was happy to see you now. I’m very curious about what you said about the future being interesting, I can’t wait to see what you will be doing next!
keep these videos coming, it was great to see you and hear your opinion.
December 20th, 2007 at 12:06 am
For whatever reason, I really enjoy watching these. Keep’em coming, and keep your head up high.
December 20th, 2007 at 12:31 am
Who the hell is the dude in the background. I thought he was going to stab you… SCARY
December 20th, 2007 at 12:42 am
It’s great to see you back again Jeff. Keep up that mad awesomeness. Hells ya.
And to re-suggest a suggestion, Stage6 is a good choice for video hosting.
December 20th, 2007 at 12:47 am
Why didn’t you mention those 90 points you got from Kane & Lynch? *wink*
Nice to see a new report.
December 20th, 2007 at 12:53 am
Vimeo is excellent, it’s like youtube done right… only issue is the 500MB/month upload limit.
December 20th, 2007 at 1:03 am
YEAH!!! ALWAYS BET ON JEFF!!!
Man, I´ll be honest here… at this point I taught you where an NPC cause its been weeks since anyone saw you. Great to see and hear from you, son!
Yeah.. people do complain to much about frggin games changes… good if you do and bad if you don´t. Who understands U$ Consumers.
Dude Alex rocked the cellphone queue for the vid end.
Nice… The Mets cap? I wanna try Chili´s some time… its like Taco Bell?
ALSO… YOU MUST PRONOUNCE YOURSELVE ON THE DUKE!!! AAAH!!
Keep on moving and rocking. See Ya
Saludos!
P.S. Try for your vids uploads… Stage6.com
You can upload vids in Divx format too.
May I suggest to tryout some of that Dulce de Leche shakes you mentioned once a long time ago… you know where. It must never be mentioned again.
December 20th, 2007 at 1:03 am
Awesome Points Report, as always.
I was SHOCKED to see you with a Montreal Expos hat. I’ve seen a couple of them lately. I guess some Montreal-born designer somewhere had a say on this.
Also for the video upload sites, Revver seems decent. I know the LoadingReadyRun guys use that and, besides some annoying ads, its pretty good. You could also try DailyMotion but their embedable video player is a bit clunky. The MySpaceTv player is surprisingly good I have to admit but its MySpace… no comment on that.
You could also try MSN Soapbox its not perfect but its not bad either. GameTrailers would be good but some people might think of some sort of association between you and MTV… or not.
You might be right about changes and everything but I still think Burnout Paradise is TOO different. The crash system seems different, less impressive somehow. The multiplayer is surprisingly well handled but throught EA Online… arrrgh… I think they made some mistakes by not include one of each modes in the game. The missing crash mod is unsatisfying (by what I’ve seen in videos). It’s Basically: “You try to barrel-rool your way through some cars in a tight mountain road.”
Meh… I’m always complaning about everything so don’t worry about that.
December 20th, 2007 at 1:12 am
Hey Jeff great video glad your doing your thing =)
Looking foward to see more! You Rock!
December 20th, 2007 at 1:12 am
Huzzah, the return of the points report! Awesome as always, and now with added Alex doing crazy stuff in the background. I’d venture to say that might even beat 100%…
December 20th, 2007 at 1:13 am
What is Alex doing? Just create a director account on youtube
December 20th, 2007 at 1:38 am
Hey Jeff. Great to see you, and I’m looking forward to seeing more of these.
It speaks volumes that you’re still ‘Jeff’ whether retained by an abominable internet conglomerate or not.
C.
December 20th, 2007 at 1:39 am
-best wishes
December 20th, 2007 at 1:47 am
Liking the video man, Call of Duty 4 does look awesome… Cant wait to finally get an 360 this christmas.
December 20th, 2007 at 1:50 am
Hey thanks for posting this Jeff, and for getting this blog going. Your points reports were the thing I liked best about the website we won’t mention, I liked the intimacy of the experience, so please keep it going. Thanks
December 20th, 2007 at 1:53 am
Ahh… It’s so good to have another points report. I’m going to sleep easy tonight
December 20th, 2007 at 1:55 am
finaly someone who actually matters agrees that call of duty 4 is the game of the year. good to hear. this points report made my day, or at least my 7:25pm-7:55pm
thanks and i look forward to more points in the future
December 20th, 2007 at 1:59 am
Harry, I’m afraid you can’t beat 100%. It’s just not scientifically possible.
December 20th, 2007 at 2:05 am
Alex, but what if I had 101%? That’s one more, a bit like my amp going to 11…
December 20th, 2007 at 2:15 am
I am really glad to see you keep doing these. Some of the previous videos were entertainment at its best!
December 20th, 2007 at 2:31 am
Harry, you speak of lies. HÁ! 101! “HÁ!” I say to that number.
Loved the points! video, been missing those.
And I REALLY liked the music on the video, Midnight Brown’s new album has to come out soon.
GUS
December 20th, 2007 at 2:36 am
Jeff, you might want to check out the Brightcove player. I’ve heard good things about that one
December 20th, 2007 at 3:02 am
I think with some confidence, we may call this ‘The Return’.
December 20th, 2007 at 3:04 am
Its nice to hear another Points report from you.
Alex makes me giggle.
December 20th, 2007 at 3:05 am
Hi Jeff! So glad you’re back! I checked your blog on GS periodically hoping you’d update it one last time saying where you relocated to. You look great, nice to see your smile. I really missed the points update, thanks for bringing it back. Alex was awesome there in the background. He had me laughing the entire time.
About Burnout, I must admit at first I was unhappy it was so different from 3, but then I noticed I had been on for an hour or so, and that I was having a blast driving around trying to do different things. I’m on the PS3 with this demo. Anyway, I’m pretty sure I’ll be buying it.
Thanks again for the updates!
ps just one thing about the video, it was really difficult for me to read the stuff you wrote at the end. Too small letter type for MySpace to handle perhaps? It’s one of my favorite parts.
December 20th, 2007 at 3:07 am
Awesome… POINTS!
I was loving the beats at the end, I really hope you’ve been investing some of your free time and emotion into coming up with new material, those beats in the creditroll were sick, and I gots the hunger for some Midnight Browwwwwwnnnnnnnnnnnn.
Peace.
December 20th, 2007 at 3:21 am
For your video uploads why don’t you host them yourself.Create a new sub domain e.g videos.jeffgerstmann.net and uplaod the videos there. Then use a wordpress plugin for a video player. This way they can be as long as you want and as big (files size) as you want.
And if youtube or myspace close down or they loose the videos, you will not loose anything. As you cannot trust that what is put onto the internet will be there tommorow or next year.
The only problem with that is that it may suck you too much bandwith and you may hit you bandwith limit. !!
December 20th, 2007 at 3:22 am
Great points report!. Ya call of duty 4 is my game of the year too.
December 20th, 2007 at 3:31 am
Points! There was a surreal thing going on there with Alex in the background.
December 20th, 2007 at 3:50 am
Hey Jeff nice report, I’m going to rent avatar I think…
Anyhoo. . . was that Carie in the back at the beginning?
The orange box points are easy (not the team fortress points) just play through. Also have you checked out the new downloadable content on bioshock?
Peace.
PS. There was a tribute to you on my podcast (episode nine) it was before all the ‘truth’ hit. And so now the stuff about Kane and Lynch is moo. But hey we all wished you well. Keep strong and keep us posted!
December 20th, 2007 at 4:02 am
awesome i missed the points reports i hope you continue to do them more often. Also the burnout demo is awesome i cant understand how someone wouldn’t like it.
oh and lol at Alex
December 20th, 2007 at 4:18 am
Woohoo points. and missing those expos!
December 20th, 2007 at 5:23 am
I didn’t realize it until watching this video that one of the things I miss the most about your not being at your previous employer is the lack of Midnight Brown music in their audio and video podcasts, features, etc. Listening to the Hotspot without hearing “Too Hot” for the lead-in and lead-out just makes me sad.
To me, there’s nothing that goes with video games coverage and conversation quite like Midnight Brown’s robotic-rap-rock style.
December 20th, 2007 at 5:35 am
sweet ass points report and thanks for keeping it real man.
December 20th, 2007 at 6:12 am
Praise the Lord!
December 20th, 2007 at 6:23 am
Good to see you again talking about games, adn Alex.
Hope to see you soon in any game portal or maybe your own
December 20th, 2007 at 6:34 am
The thing is with Youtube… they have a ten minute limit, but it’s more of a guideline, really. It used to be that only “Director” accounts could surpass the ten minute limit, and you had to go through a lengthy approval process to get a Director account…
But now you can just set yourself up as a Director (or an entertainer, or a guru, etc.) in your profile and the change is more or less instantaneous.
Basically the only limit Youtube has now is your video has to be under 100mb.
December 20th, 2007 at 6:38 am
That was awesome Jeff….been waiting for your points report and I thought we would never get to see it again.
December 20th, 2007 at 6:43 am
The points report is back!!! Great stuff Jeff, keep on ‘vlogging’…. is that the word?
Excited to hear that there are projects in the works. Until then I will be stuck to this blog.
December 20th, 2007 at 6:52 am
Dude, cheer up! Be happy! Would be beter if it was a conversation rather than a monologue tbh, get a bit more interaction. Try to get some more gamespot dudes in there for bonus points - brad shoemaker is not on our screens enough, that guy is awesome. Do some recruiting!!
December 20th, 2007 at 7:02 am
Hey this was great, keep it coming!
December 20th, 2007 at 7:04 am
I hope you kept your 360 controllers out of reach…
December 20th, 2007 at 7:18 am
awesome, jeff. nice to see the petaluma posse kicking it and, if i am not mistaken, drinking.
December 20th, 2007 at 7:22 am
Agreed fcod4 is goty:D
How about giving the Ps3 some love! That was all about the xbox man…
December 20th, 2007 at 7:32 am
I’d say 10 minutes is twice as long as it needs to be. I’m one of those people who don’t make time to listen to people ramble on in a vlog. I’m interested in your opinion but be concise!
December 20th, 2007 at 7:32 am
I can’t believe you’re still a points fiend Jeff!
Avatar, Points Game of the Year! BOOYAH!!!
Alex’s antics in the background were funny.
December 20th, 2007 at 7:36 am
Man i missed your Points reports! look forward to the next stuff!
P.S. Alex Navarro is a funny man!
December 20th, 2007 at 7:39 am
Montreal Expos FTW!
Nice hat Jeff. It’s always heartwarming to see that my hometown team hasn’t been completely forgotten!
Now you’ve got to work to regain that #3 spot on the celeb leaderboard on MyGamerCard.net… It belongs to you!
December 20th, 2007 at 8:07 am
So glad to see you’re doing ok Jeff!
Keep the points reports coming! >D
December 20th, 2007 at 8:40 am
Gotta love Alex screwing around in the background, kinda livens up the video and makes you want to actually watch, as opposed to letting it play in a tab and browsing while listening.
December 20th, 2007 at 8:57 am
hexen 3: hax1
December 20th, 2007 at 9:16 am
Krys T:
BLASPHEMY!
You don’t know entertainment when you see it, woman.
December 20th, 2007 at 9:20 am
Alex just gets weirder and weirder in the background lmao. Nice to see you Jeff, keep the vids coming.
December 20th, 2007 at 9:23 am
YeeeeHaww point reports are back!!! lol thanks Jeff
December 20th, 2007 at 9:47 am
Jeff = Amazing
Points! = Amazing
Burnout Paradise Demo = Amazing
COD 4 = Amazing
Yep, life is good . . .
December 20th, 2007 at 9:56 am
We’re all real serious in the danger zone! DANGER ZONE!
December 20th, 2007 at 10:02 am
Oh man, it’s great to see you making videos again. This points episode rocked. It’s always great to get your opinion, and there’s no better backround dude than Alex.
Also, as people have already mentioned, that addicting beat at the end really made me want to hear some more Midnight Brown. That’s actually one good thing that happened from… umm, your recent change in employment status due to highly questionable managerial decisions. I went to your myspace page for the first time and found out what Midnight Brown was. You make up half of a music group! Dang, that’s cool.
December 20th, 2007 at 10:10 am
Hi Jeff,
It’s brilliant that you have started this blog site, you can rest assured that I will visit the site on a regular basis. Never sell out dude!!!!!!
Love and Peace from Amsterdam

December 20th, 2007 at 10:13 am
I’ve always enjoyed your points videos. It’s good to see that I’m not the only achievements whore…Keep up the good work. Can’t wait to see what you’re going to do in the future. Love the blog too.
December 20th, 2007 at 10:16 am
Flap Jacks and Peppermint paddy’s?
Plop tarts and frequently asked questions?
Make Sense? Good.
December 20th, 2007 at 10:17 am
I’ve been waiting for another one of these since August!
December 20th, 2007 at 10:20 am
Nice The Points Report but with a new name.
Interested to see what other non-points! videos you make.
December 20th, 2007 at 10:26 am
Wow, looks like you were throwing a party. You had any other staff members with you? Alex seemed to be in love with those shirts, by the way.
Great points report as always. Nice to see them back after a 4 month break. I also like it when they’re long.
See you next time.
December 20th, 2007 at 10:44 am
awesome!
December 20th, 2007 at 10:48 am
Hey Jeff, good to see the return of the points report. Since you’re using the MySpace video player, I can tell you that it allows you to upload videos in your cameras native 16:9 format, as it will create the black bars for you. You don’t have to Make your widescreen format go atop a 4:3 box. Not that it really matters. Regardless, hope to see more videos in the future…and for the record. I’m personally pumped for Burnout Paradise, so I feel you.
December 20th, 2007 at 11:15 am
I love the points reports! I’ve missed them. Oh, and:
http://www.putfile.com
I don’t remember if you can embed from there, but, even if you can’t, you get a nice big resolution.
December 20th, 2007 at 11:25 am
That was awesome Jeff. Points reports are one my favorite things to view on the internet and I’m glad to see they have returned, and in fine goofy form no less. Good luck with everything, I can’t wait to see what you do from here on out.
December 20th, 2007 at 12:05 pm
Alex, chew with the mouth closed, dude.
December 20th, 2007 at 12:11 pm
Thanks for the mention man, in shitty low times like that its always important to know people give a crap.
Solid report as ever, i downloaded Zuma last week when the price dropped to get some easy points. An error on my part, still not 1 point from that silly silly game.
December 20th, 2007 at 12:19 pm
Thank god, I missed these things. Pretty sweet that Danny got a shout out. I’m jealous.
December 20th, 2007 at 1:08 pm
Damn, im gona go get Avatar! Fresh points report man! Stoked to see it again!
December 20th, 2007 at 1:21 pm
points report is back!
it’s all about the points.
December 20th, 2007 at 1:35 pm
Hey Jeff, I love Points!
Don’t ever have your friends doing stuff in the background again, it’s probably the most distracting thing ever. I occasionally didn’t listen to what you said just to see wtf Alex was doing.
December 20th, 2007 at 1:42 pm
first off alex ur a fucking idiot but i love you neways:) other then tht yay we get to see and hear jeff again me lovey you, and im so happy to see points on the site. this is my new favorite site and i come to this now just about as often as i go to gamespot. well ttyl and i hope to see more videos of games and also random ass shit:)

December 20th, 2007 at 1:49 pm
Great to see the points report again. Funny when you were mentioning thinking wasn’t your strong suit and Alex was just shaking his head in agreement. hahahaha
December 20th, 2007 at 2:41 pm
ok forgive me but goddamn kristy chick i will admit tht alex was rather distracting but its fucking alex what do you expect hes awesome and so is jeff. as for everyone else thers no complaints and its not their fault you have a one track mind. the video was amazing and it made it all the bttr tht alex was being fucking stupid and distracting in the background. idk hav ur own opions but as for tht fick dich…

December 20th, 2007 at 2:50 pm
YES!!! Points Report is back!! Oh and Alex (not me, the Alex in the video) was hilarious!!! Keep doing that!
December 20th, 2007 at 3:27 pm
awesome. im glad you continued to do this as this was the thing i loved the most when you were working at gamespot
December 20th, 2007 at 3:29 pm
Mr Gerstmann!! Nice sseing you doing your thing again. Still like these point reports, so keep em coming. Good to see that all you guys still “hang out”.
December 20th, 2007 at 3:34 pm
Hi Jeff, you might want to give Google Video a try:
http://video.google.com/
They don’t have the 10 minutes cap, and hey it’s the the company that own’s YouTube, so it’s only a question of time until the two sites get merged.
The have a pretty cool uploading tool, which is great if you need to upload bigger videos. https://www.google.com/video/upload/UploadInfo?hl=en
Cheers
Toni
December 20th, 2007 at 5:32 pm
Awesome report. I wish you would implement Wii and PS3 thoughts in these kinda videos.
Good job, and Alex Navarro is so funny in the background!
December 20th, 2007 at 5:35 pm
The text was a bit small and buffering was a bitch, but the content was great as always.
I consider myself the biggest Burnout fan of all time and love Paradise. I played the demo for 3 hours straight once. I actually called in a LONG time ago, before we saw any footage of gameplay, to a certain podcast asking what’s going to happen to the Burnout series. I thought open world was the worst thing ever. Totally wrong.
Fun fact about Paradise: the soundtrack from Burnout 1, 2, and the long-lost, unreleased soundtrack of 3 (the one I assume Criterion had made before EA bought them and made them put in everyone’s favorite EA Tracks) will all be on the soundtrack for Paradise.
PS - Another fan of the Burnouts made a very funny, accurate, and awesome song. Burnout 3 Online: Still Alive (Portal song)
December 20th, 2007 at 5:42 pm
No worries, it’s not intended to remain a 360-centric series. That’s just where the name and its legacy comes from, so in starting it up again, I decided to kind of take it back to its roots for the first one.
December 20th, 2007 at 6:12 pm
This is the best and most terrifying “OH GOD BEHIND YOU!” scene in the history of cinema.
I’m glad you’re stoked about the future, Jeff. You should be. I got fired from a job earlier this year and now in my new job I’m making THREE MORE DOLLARS AN HOUR than I was before! I wish you the same degree of success.
December 20th, 2007 at 6:22 pm
Excellent stuff… Jeff Gerstmann is undestroyable. I’m delighted to find this. Shame i couldn’t get it through itunes. If you ever want some free video hosting and not scared of strangers i’d be happy to set a brother up, got 250 gigs and nothing to do. Keep it coming!
December 20th, 2007 at 6:30 pm
Hell yeah, Points!
Nice to see a Alex cameo, but who started yelling like a maniac at the end?
December 20th, 2007 at 6:45 pm
“Jeff Says:

You said some words on some Wii and DS games a while ago, but not in the last couple of ‘Points reports’ … now we have something to look forward to though!
That’s great.
December 20th, 2007 at 7:00 pm
Great! Loved it! hows the job goin?
December 20th, 2007 at 9:13 pm
Video uploading service : Stage6, which will allow one file to be as big as two gigabytes. It’s great.
December 20th, 2007 at 11:51 pm
Jeff Glad to hear your still kicking man. Really glad you made this video to hear your opinion on some of the games around right now. I agree dude…CoD4 for GOTY. Looking forward for another video update soon.
December 21st, 2007 at 12:56 am
Man, COD4 is game of the year, I’m loving it. =3
December 21st, 2007 at 12:58 am
Jeff,
I am so glad to see you back on my PC screen once more. I’m waiting with interest to see your further productions. Your opinions, love of games and good humour will see your fans follow you on to your new projects.
Glad to see Alex has joined the dark side too.
All the best for the festive season and best wishes from the UK!

many thanks for finally checking in with some points. I use to clown on gamers who made a big deal about them, but I catch myself tweaking on past gaming epxeriences thru the points.
how bout that XBL user name… maybe a change would be nice???
I could offer a few points for the cause, but that is if yer happy with the GS name.

Great to see another points report and to get caught up. Also, great to have Alex in the background. Can’t wait for more!

Great report as always, Jeff!
Thanks for bringing it back.

December 21st, 2007 at 10:13 am
Awesome to see you back in your classic home-made videos again, Jeff.
I do love it when you go off on your rants in your points reports, so more of that is definitely needed! Alex looked super content back there. Looking forward to more, Jeff. Keep it real, brah.
December 21st, 2007 at 10:25 am
It was awesome seeing another one of these vids. Even though I don’t have a 360 (anymore), it’s still neat to hear what games you’ve been playing– and playing some of them just to hoard points.
Your mix of experience and humor is as spot-on as it’s ever been, and Alex playing a supporting (and humorous) role in the background was the icing on the cake.
Happy holidays!
December 21st, 2007 at 11:44 am
Jeff, completely unmistakeably awesome… Keep it going! This could totally be your new job, I’m sure you could get some sponsors to get you setup for video blogging easily. Or perhaps that’s what you already have lined up??
I’ve been waiting for something like this ever since that messed up fiasco last month that makes me want to watch to get some news and someones opinion I respect.
Loved Alex in the background… the intimate setting, your own tunes. Aimed for success.
Roll with it, look forward to more, as well as checking out your blog
December 21st, 2007 at 12:56 pm
Just the other day i thought about the pointreport. Nice seeing you doing one
I wish you all the support you get and hope you have a merry christmas and a happy new year.

Sry for doublepost. Merry x-mas to alex to.
December 21st, 2007 at 2:21 pm
Nice to see a new points report again, oh and I got the gnome achievement!!. Actually I got it twice, the first time I forgot to close the rocket door after I put it in so I had to do it all over again.
December 21st, 2007 at 3:29 pm
Awesome video! Alex was hilarious in the background, imo.
December 21st, 2007 at 3:48 pm
Jeff, It’s great to see that your still alive. I been waiting a long time for a new points report and this one is rad. It was odd seeing you on Tekzilla but seeing as Garnet Lee has been on there a few times, makes sense. Always bet on Jeff!
December 21st, 2007 at 5:53 pm
Jeff, you forgot the second part of “you shoot dudes.”
THEY DIE
December 21st, 2007 at 7:13 pm
Points! is the business, son. Thanks for bringing it back from the dead. Looking forward to learning about what you’re up to next.

December 22nd, 2007 at 9:38 pm
yo that expos hat is nice. i see you like my nationals.
December 22nd, 2007 at 11:05 pm
Mo’ points, mo’ problems, baby. I love these videos.
It’s true, you couldn’t take two steps in any direction this year without tripping over a triple A shooter. Which is funny because everyone was complaining about the complete lack of shooters last year. Like all the high profile shooter developments converged into this perfect storm.
December 22nd, 2007 at 11:23 pm
y couldn i view d video? do i nd 2 b myspace member first?
December 23rd, 2007 at 8:12 am
COD4 rocks hard, my 1st runner up GOTY to….The Orange Box, Portal is stupendous, Half Life 2: Ep 2 is the best in the series, Team Fortress 2s multiplayer for me beats out COD4s by a tad, because it’s something different, something different and insanely fun, i reccomend going another round of TF2 Jeff.
December 23rd, 2007 at 4:39 pm
Good job Jeff, keep these videos rolling!
December 23rd, 2007 at 11:49 pm
The worst part is Alex in the background. Never do that again.
December 24th, 2007 at 1:25 am

December 24th, 2007 at 10:26 pm
Once you get into a regular routine why not add some rss and drop it as a video podcast on Itunes and Zune Marketplace.
December 25th, 2007 at 5:20 am
Great to hear from you again Jeff! Seeing you on Tekzilla was nice, but this was even better. Seeing Alex and hearing Vinny (at least, I think it was him) in the background was funny too. Really looking forward to more of these!
December 25th, 2007 at 10:02 am
Jeff Fuck GS. Move on, you’ll be appreciated somewhere else. Got a 360 for christmas, rocking out with it to the fullest. The only problem with the Burnout demo is that you have to go all the way back to do the same race. Of course you’re going to have more races in the retail version, that was the only problem with it.
December 25th, 2007 at 1:22 pm
Just came back from a vacation and was treated to your “Points” - as awesome as usual.
By the way, before I went out of town - definitely had 5 friends over who had never played previous Burnouts before…and everyone simply loved it. Guys that didn’t have 360’s yet said that they were thinking about buying one anyways, and that they might as well pick up the game. We even tried using my steering wheel which was pretty interesting….
As much as I liked it, I probably liked it a little less than the people completely new to the series. Go figure… Anyways, hopefully this means Paradise will manage to widen their audience a bit.

December 29th, 2007 at 6:01 am
Nice to have you back! For me it’s not really about the points, it’s about watching Jeff talking totally unscripted mess for 30 minutes.
December 29th, 2007 at 10:41 am
Awesome! I’m glad to see that you made your own website!
Points! is an great idea and I’ll be there to watch the others!
You rock! XD
December 29th, 2007 at 10:47 am
There is hidden message going on in the background with that guy.
Alex i think it is.
T-shirt, book, etc
December 29th, 2007 at 10:52 am
You should try out Veoh.
December 30th, 2007 at 12:46 am
Good video. Keep em coming!
December 30th, 2007 at 10:38 am
Hey. You know what. Even though I dont own an Xbox 360 or worry about the points collected on the system I find myself still watching attentively to your whole speech on how much you’ve played these games, about how the achievements are set and how much you’ve enjoyed the games and the way they were set up.
Over all the hype I see with your name thrown amongst the stars of game celebrity it’s the down to earth nature of the nerdiness that you and Alex share that kept me watching because it was very down to earth and hell, myself as a gamer know it’s not how much the game costs or a bout reality, its about kicking ass better then other people and showing it off and I can understand how the points online are like the names you types in the Arcade when you were younger, Basically saying ” Try and beat me..oh wait..you out of quarters HA go cry to mommy ”
I guess it just reminds me of the old school days when I would run to the arcade to play some Street Fighter 2 : The Movie : The Game or Terminator 2 when I’d pray to see my name on top of the list. Right now I’m even trying to compete using the PS3 folding@home program..call it..special points ?
I’d definitely work on a site to host your own material, reviews, previews and so on and I’m sure with your celebrity status ( Even Alex N’s association to you and with gamers everywhere ) it would be one hell of a website and definitely generate enough pageviews to earn it’s www space on the net. How about http://www.thanksdavidforthesuggestionillgiveyouajobcauseyouragraduate2d3danimator.com ? Hmm… I thought it had a ring to it but maybe not.
I would however like your permission to 3d model a cartoon Jeff and Alex for use in Deathmatch on games, since I’m pretty sure I can’t do it without the consent of yourself. The email has been left in this reply if you ever read these.
Keep up the great work and I’ll be looking forward to more of the Jeff And Alex show.
December 30th, 2007 at 5:36 pm
Please remind me what song that is at the beginning.
December 30th, 2007 at 10:26 pm
Yeah I absolutely agree with you about Call of Duty 4. The multiplayer is really awesome too. Keep the Points! videos up!
December 31st, 2007 at 8:19 am
Who is the woman playing rock band? Great to see you and that you are doing fine. Can Alex or Ryan Davis be your co host to the points report?
January 1st, 2008 at 11:43 am
It’s great to see these videos are coming back man, they’re awesome.
Have an awesome new year full of beer, games, beer, beer, and Call of Duty 4.
More safari…less track.

Sigh I can’t get access to myspace from work so I’ll have to wait till I get home.
On a similar note, why not youtube Jeff? I try at all costs to avoid mystalker.com
January 3rd, 2008 at 5:48 am
I love your Points! show.
It’s so good to hear and see you again.
You should also have a special guest in the background every time, since it’s hilarious.
January 9th, 2008 at 3:43 am
I used to not really like you on gamespot, but after rich left you slowly grew on me. And just as i was beginning to really look forward to your weekly posts, you were gone. lame. But keep up this stuff cos you’re good.
PS is Alex supposed to be like a parrot on your shoulder?
January 9th, 2008 at 9:02 am

January 11th, 2008 at 1:21 am
Just found this blog site..
Feels great to follow your points again, feels a bit empty without your current point impressions.
Happy to see you alive, where ever you go I’ll follow. *nods*
January 11th, 2008 at 6:22 pm
hi Jeff - we’d be happy to host your videos at gamevideos.com. Only problem is we already have a series of shows called Points (no exclamation mark). Not sure what to do about that…
January 11th, 2008 at 8:22 pm
Great Vid to tell you the truth Jeff & Alex Kinda Inspired me to do a little writing and now I’m #2 in class So guess i’ll do a little journalism in college once I start next semester (the semester after his 1 that is about 2 start)

Expos represent!
Best part of that video?
*looks to Alex*
- How’s the job going?
*Alex shrugs a ‘meh’*
- Sounds about right…
Yup, sounds about right. Seriously not many reasons left to visit GS anymore other than IGN makes my eyes bleed. I used to watch video reviews and see you guys really show love for games. Now I get to see people ‘doing their job’…
At pretty much the same time GS is swearing you being fired as nothing to do with negative reviews, I get to see a review from GS on how Assassin’s Creed has ‘got tons of things to do’ (I think that’s a quote from the review itself)… so reviews are a mix of facts and opinions, but ‘tons of things to do in AC’ is neither a fact or an opinion worth having (because AC’s got just a bit more to do than Connect Four)
I’ll stop here cuz I feel like Henry Rollins when I start ranting…
January 13th, 2008 at 2:45 am
Damn! It’s good to see you live and kicking!
I’v been watching all your ponts! videos (and i dont have a 360^^ just my PS3)
For whatever reason i just like the “easy” chat about games
Anyway, keep doing you thing.
Regards from Norway

January 13th, 2008 at 11:34 pm
Cool vid, haven’t seen anything from you in a while. It looks like you’ve got some plans up your sleeve for the future, so that should be interesting to see what develops.
I have no tips about uploading videos to the web, but if your going to be putting up a good number of them you might want to get a better set-up. I don’t know if you have a miniDV cam, but if so, you could get your hands on (I didn’t say buy) some editing software. I like Vegas Video, Final Cut has some more pro features, but it’s a hell of a lot harder to use. Both prog’s will let you do green-screen and color correction, but you’ll want to get some full spectrum 5500K lighting. The only other thing you’ll need is a better microphone or two. Isn’t Alex Navarro in a band or several bands? Maybe he’s got one you can use.
Anyhoo, there’s no reason you couldn’
